Iacocca Edition Mustang Drifting!

Over the last 45 years, there have been myriad versions of the Mustang. But without Lee Iacocca, none would have ever come to be. So it’s only fitting that there be a special edition that bears his name. Only 45 of these Michael Leone designed, Gaffoglio Family Metalcrafters built babies are going to be produced, so watching the driver drift in the tunnel made us want to remind him to be careful. I was going to describe the styling, but I think I’ll just let this clip do the talking…

Car News TV Reviews the Porsche Panamera

Since the first spy photos were leaked, I’ve been saying I think Porsche’s Panamera looks pretty awful. And while I don’t think the finished product is totally hideous, I think Stuttgart fell well short of attractive with the design of it’s first four-door. What do I find hideous? The way that some media outlets title something a “car review,” and then deliver an infomercial. There’s nothing even remotely critical of the vehicle in Car News TV’s “review” of the new Porsche—not even the almost obligatory “while some purists might not like the idea of a Porsche sedan…”—and I swear I recognize the narrator’s voice from a detergent spot or something. I can just hear her saying “and just look at what it does to grass-stains!” That said, there are still some good shots of the Panamera in action here.

Caption Contest: This Week’s Winner!

Way back in the day, I actually used to deliver mattresses and furniture, and it was easily the most physically demanding job I’ve had. Ever. Of course, I drove a truck that had enough space for ten or so stops, so I never had to resort to anything like this to secure my load. But even though I’ve heard variations on this joke, like, ten thousand times, it was kind of funny to hear it with the sexual connotation removed. So this week’s winner is leojmcca, who came up with; “I’m not sure if I like this mattress, let me take it for a test drive.” Congrats man. Ma Mopar’s Viper is awesome because it’s about as complicated as a hammer. There’s no fancy traction control or electronic nannies to keep you out of the wall, there’s just a giant motor and the potential for trouble. And when you’re talking about a 1000HP Venom version,  things are even more intense. So I wasn’t surprised when the Porsche bests the beast in this race, because hooking up all those ponies isn’t going to be easy, and Stuttgart knows how to make a car corner. But even though it’s way, way, too close for comfort, how cool does it look when the Viper comes sliding by the camera? It looks like a comet! Good thing it didn’t impact the Ford GT…
